Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia is a medical term that comes from the Greek words for “woman-like breasts.” Though it is rarely talked about, gynecomastia is actually very common, affecting an estimated 40 to 60 percent of men in one breast or both.
For men who feel self-conscious about their appearance, breast-reduction surgery can help. This procedure removes fat and tissue from the breasts, and sometimes excess skin resulting in a chest that is flatter, firmer and better contoured. The results are significant and permanent.
Gynecomastia may be caused by certain drugs, medical problems or excessive weight. These conditions would likely be addressed by the plastic surgeon prior to finalizing plans for this procedure.
